ORLANDO — In dominating fashion, The Miami FC defeated Orlando City SC of Major League Soccer and advanced in U.S. Open Cup competition Wednesday night, 3-1. Stéfano Pinho led the way, earning a hat trick.
While Miami FC has been the top team in the North American Soccer League so far this Spring Season, it was not favored heading into a matchup against a team currently competing for the top spot in the MLS Eastern Conference. This was the first time Miami FC squared off against any kind of team from the MLS in competitive play. However, the results, and the style of play, wouldn’t have indicated that.
After a shaky start, Miami FC dominated the match. From minute 20 on, Miami FC were the better squad.
