The Miami FC has turned into an offensive juggernaut in the NASL. Few teams in the league have the defensive ability to keep up with this group of attackers. Whether it’s blowing teams out by numerous goals or being able to cash in on the lone chance of the night, Pinho, Rennella and Poku have come in clutch all season. Their job has been made much easier thanks to the play of the midfield group that we recapped yesterday. Let’s take a look at the trio’s season so far and their best moments.
Stefano Pinho: 4 Goals in a match is usually always your best and most meaningful performance. I mean what could be better than scoring 4 goals and winning a league title…? Scoring three goals and knocking off MLS’ Orlando City on the road. This is the game that got the motor running for Pinho, and boy is that motor running. We’re not even going to condense the highlight package, just watch it all.
Vincenzo Rennella: The league leader in goals (10) and assists (5) has been an offensive juggernaut for Miami since his arrival late last season. Rennella also has a goal and an assist in open cup play as well. The ability to link with Poku has provided Rennella with an outstanding start to the year. Believe it or not, the spark to Miami’s season and 14 game unbeaten run might actually be because of a Rennella assist on a 95’ equalizer (Kcira) to steal a point at home from NCFC early in the year. Rennella also got the opening goal against the Tampa Bay Rowdies allowing Miami to advance in the Open Cup. His through pass to Mares allowed him to find Chavez for the 2nd of the night. #AvecFromage
Kwadwo Poku: If Miami FC were a sports car engine, Poku is undoubtedly the supercharger. Poku is the pound for pound best player in the NASL. He can do it ALL. 30 league chances created, 6 goals (2 USOC), 3 assists (1 USOC), a Ghana National Team call up sums up a fantastic spring season for the 25 year old. Kwadwo has the first goal on the Miami spring campaign, the first goal of Miami’s open cup campaign, and the most memorable goal in Miami FC history. Which goal? Oh you know.
