The Miami FC dominant in post-Hurricane Irma friendly win over Miami United FC

It took a little while, but The Miami FC shook off its post-Hurricane Irma rust and showed its quality against Miami United FC’s APSL squad, 6-0.

It nearly took an entire half for Miami FC to finally break the seal on the MUFC goal. Despite a number of free kicks, corner kicks and quality opportunities, which included a shot off the crossbar, the score remained 0-0 for much of the first half. Finally, Kwadwo Poku put an opportunity away in the 45th minute to give Miami FC the lead heading into halftime.

After the break, there were a number of changes made by both teams. The addition of Stefano Pinho changed the attack, and it would lead to five more goals. Pinho himself had a brace, along with Poku. Calvin Rezende got on the scoresheet along with Ariel Martinez, who finished a beautiful opportunity with his left foot.

Miami FC’s next scheduled game is Sept. 24 against Jacksonville Armada FC. Miami United’s next scheduled game is a U.S. Open Cup qualifier against South Florida FC at Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City on Sept. 24.
