It seems like there’s a lot of dust in the air surrounding the beautiful game here locally. While every other league’s schedule is still “under construction”, the PDL released their schedule recently. “PDL?”, you ask. Yes FC Miami City, the only club in the PDL from the magic city, will return to Tropical Park for the 2018 PDL season.
FC Miami City will look to pick up right where they left off in 2017. Finishing second in the Southeast Division, City amassed 33 points (10-3-1) and an outstanding plus-29 goal differential, falling just short of division champions SIMA Aguilas by a point. Qualifying for the playoffs after missing out in 2016, City defeated the OKC Energy 1-0 before losing in penalties to Mississippi Brilla F.C. after 120 minutes of scoreless play. However, City did earn a spot in the U.S. Open Cup joining fellow magic city clubs Red Force, Miami United, and FC Kendall.
Miami City will begin their 2018 campaign with a four game home-stand on Saturday May 19th against the Lakeland Tropics. The PDL schedule is a challenge as teams play every few days. City will have a back-to-back on May 23rd and 24th against defending division champions SIMA, followed by IMG Academy. The new look North County United (formerly South Florida Surf) will end the home-stand on Saturday June 2nd.
All home games are scheduled to kick off at 6PM. For more information about F.C. Miami City, visit their website by clicking here. You’ll find coverage of City throughout the season here, at your home for all things soccer in Miami-Dade County.
