The Miami FC 2 signs Jeff Michaud to bolster midfield

The Miami FC 2 is looking to add some pop to its midfield, and turning to a familiar (and infamous) name. Attacking midfielder Jeff Michaud has been signed for the 2018 season.

Michaud is well known among long-time Miami FC fans for two notable Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup goals. He is responsible for the first goal scored against Miami FC in Open Cup, a rocket shot from outside the 18-yard box that beat Mario Daniel Vega to his right.

The West Palm Beach native’s second goal was in a losing effort for Miami FC’s opposition in 2017, the South Florida Surf, but it was memorable nonetheless. Michaud turned Hunter Freeman around before scoring a tying goal late in the second half.

Michaud’s history

Michaud played college soccer at the University of Central Florida and Eastern Florida State College in 2013. He started his club career with Premier Development League side Fort Lauderdale Schulz Academy (later Floridians FC) in 2011. He played four games at Tampa Bay Rowdies before being loaned to the Hammerheads in March 2016.

In the uncertainty of NASL following the 2016 season, he joined the South Florida Surf for its Open Cup appearance. This will the be first time he appears for a Miami-Dade club.

It will be interesting to see how Miami FC 2 Paul Dalglish slots Michaud into the side. He made an appearance as a sub and scored the decisive goal in Miami FC 2’s 2-1 victory over FC Kendall.
