2018 FIFA World Cup trophy comes to Miami as part of worldwide tour

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy made an appearance in Miami on Tuesday, as part of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour presented by Coca-Cola.

The tour, which began in January and continues through the end of the month before the trophy is returned to Russia, is designed to engage fans. The first trophy tour took place in 2006.

The trophy made its first appearance at the Miami International Airport, where the tour jet touched down:

The trophy was welcomed by local dignitaries on the tarmac:

The trophy later traveled to Telemundo’s new headquarters in Doral. Telemundo is the Spanish-language broadcast partner of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the United States:

Unlike in some other cities, there was no oppotunity for the general public to visit the trophy in person. However, that’s not likely to affect how excited soccer fans in Miami-Dade County are for the World Cup, which begins on June 14, 2018 in Russia.
