Miami Country Day senior and girls’ soccer standout Danielle Geathers received a significant honor Wednesday, when she was named one of Foot Lockers’ Scholar Athletes.
Foot Locker, which recognized 20 standout high-school athletes across the nation each year, picked Geathers for her academic and athletic success. According to the Miami Herald, Geathers has a 3.9 GPA. The school shared on its social media accounts Wednesday that Geathers will be attending MIT in the fall to study biomedical engineering and continue her soccer career:

Geathers was a first-team All-Dade selection this season after she captained Miami Country Day to its first state finals appearance. She scored six goals and notched five assists on the season, before the Spartans fell to Orange Park St. Johns Country Day — widely considered one of the best girls’ soccer programs in the country — in the state championship.
