Rennella’s role with the club changed this season, as coach Paul Dalglish attempted to move Rennella further back as a holding midfielder. It’s unclear the specific reasons for the departure, and the terms of Rennella’s remaining contract are uncertain.
When asked about Rennella’s departure, head coach Paul Dalglish declined to comment.
“I’m just the coach. If the club want to make a statement on that, then that’ll be the club that makes a statement on that.”
