After being postponed from its originally scheduled date at Broward College South Campus in Pembroke Pines on Sunday, the American Premier Soccer League semifinal match between FC Kendall and Red Force FC will be played at Tropical Park tonight at 8:30 p.m.
The match, between the two amateur qualifiers for the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup from Miami, will have huge stakes on the line. The winner will face either South Florida FC or Boca Raton FC’s APSL squad for the league’s summer championship and a spot in the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Both clubs are well-established in Miami-Dade County, with both boasting league championships and Open Cup appearances. FC Kendall has been dominant, posting a 6-0-1 record. Red Force, normally a top-shelf challenger in the league, struggled a bit following its Open Cup appearance, collecting a 3-3-1 record.
However, Red Force may have found its footing in the playoffs, reversing a 1-0 halftime deficit to U.D. Miami FC and claiming a 3-1 victory in the quarterfinals.
