It’s been a busy morning here in the Magic City with regards to soccer. Bill Reese from The Water Tower, has been on the trail for many trademark applications including Futbol Miami MLS. This morning he broke the news that MIPH, LLC has filed the images below as trademarks for a soccer team based in Miami. MIPH was the same group to place trademarks on Miami Freedom, Futbol Miami MLS, and other variations of the project’s name.
The first reveal that comes to light is the team name. Internacional Club De Futbol or “Inter Miami”, has been a popular choice amongst fans of the MLS franchise. With a name that pays tribute to Miami’s diversity and culture, Internacional has only polled lower than the “Atletico Miami” terminology. If the team name were to stick, expect the name to be stylized as Inter C.F. Miami.
The logos show a distinct Miami flair with their patterning and color scheme. The crest has a black background on pink lettering that is synonymous with the Magic City nightlife. Two Great Egret’s adorn the crest under the word “Miami”. The two native birds link their legs to stylize an M that is seen on the lower left hand side in a very modern chic/re-born art deco.
As for the bottom of the crest, the roman numerals “MMXX” appear on the bottom. With the club scheduled to take the field in 2020, this could very well be the final design. However, as we’ve seen before with the Mas brothers, this design could be scrapped just as well.
