It was a dominant performance for Florida Soccer Soldiers on Sunday night, as the team traveled to Delray Beach to dispatch Hurricane F.C. from 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifying, 6-0.
“Complete team performance,” said William Stamatis, who scored two goals and notched one assist to be named MVP by the team in an Instagram story after the game. “We practice hard, we play hard and we’ve said it before: eyes on the future. We want to make it far in the cup and keep working on the next game.”
Stamatis wasn’t the only player with a brace. Valentin Sabella scored two goals in three minutes, with two unassisted scores in the 78th and 80th minute. Sabella also added two assists.
Soccer Soldiers will face off against America Soccer Club of Winter Garden for the Southeast’s spot in the 2019 Open Cup. America defeated Soda City FC Sorinex of South Carolina 2-1 to advance.
