Inter Miami CF add MLS All-Star, U-13 champion manager Javier Morales to youth academy staff

Last month, Inter Miami CF scored a youth soccer coup when it announced the hiring of Juan Carlos Michia and Victor Pastora, formerly of Weston FC, to lead the team’s youth academy. On Friday, the club added to the ranks, poaching Javier Morales from FC Dallas’ U-13s side.

Morales spent a decade in Major League Soccer, with the vast majority of that time coming with Real Salt Lake. With RSL, Morales and then-head coach Jason Kries (who now serves as a consultant to the team’s technical department) helped to combine for a MLS Cup title in 2009.

Morales spent his final season on the field with FC Dallas, then transitioned to management with the U-13s. In his only season with the U-13s, he helped the young players win the Copa Rayados Internacional tournament in Houston.

“We are thrilled to welcome Javier to our club,” sporting director Paul McDonough said in a statement. “He has played at the highest level, both in MLS and internationally, and his experience will be invaluable for our Academy players as we build our foundation and begin play later this year. We are excited to work with him in the next phase of his career as a coach.”

It is not known at this time whether Morales will also coach U-13s for Miami.
