ORLANDO — In dominating fashion, The Miami FC defeated Orlando City SC of Major League Soccer and advanced in U.S. Open Cup competition Wednesday night, 3-1. Stéfano Pinho led the way, earning a hat trick.
In an unexpectedly tight matchup, The Miami FC of the North American Soccer League survived a serious challenge from South Florida Surf of the Premier Development League in order to advance to the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Cobb Stadium on the campus of the University of Miami on Wednesday.
In a chippy matchup between two teams eager to advance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open competition, South Florida Surf scored three second-half goals to put away Red Force FC, 4-2.
