Miami United plans no affiliation with US Premiership

Roberto Sacca, general manager of Miami United FC, categorically denied any connection to the US Premiership, a new club league launched on Monday.

Contrary to some circulated reports on Twitter on Tuesday, Sacca stated the club has no intention to have any affiliation with the league, either involving its senior team or a reserve team.

“No truth,” Sacca told Magic City Soccer on Tuesday night. “We don’t have anything to do with that.”

The Palm Beach-based Premiership has acquired the Texas Premier Soccer League.

Miami continues to post spectacular 2018 FIFA World Cup ratings

Miami is by far the TV market watching the most 2018 FIFA World Cup coverage, according to an analysis by FOX Sports of both English- and Spanish-language coverage. Photographic by Matthew Bunch.

While it’s not a surprise, it is jarring to see how much the Miami-Fort Lauderdale TV market is dominating in 2018 FIFA World Cup consumption.

There has been some reporting on how much Miami is watching, but the full picture wasn’t clear until yesterday. Michael Mulvihill, FOX Sports Executive Vice President for Research, League Operations & Strategy, tweeted out ratings numbers combining English- and Spanish-language ratings.

Colombia, Venezuela to face off at Hard Rock Stadium

Colombia Venezuela

Hard Rock Stadium announced Monday afternoon that Colombia and Venezuela’s national teams will square off at the stadium on Sept. 7.

CMN Sports and Relevent Sports are partnering to arrange the game. Relevant Sports is part-owned by Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium owner Stephen Ross.

Earlier this year, there were reports that Colombia would be facing off against the United States. It’s uncertain how this game may affect negotiations for that game.

Colombia and Venezuela last played each other in World Cup Qualifying on Aug. 31, 2017 (a 0-0 draw). The two squads last played in a friendly on Sept. 3, 2010 (Colombia won, 2-0).

Miami Beach auction house Futbolasta to sell scores of important soccer relics in “The Nations and Idols”

Futbolasta

While many of the great soccer players who have written the history of the game hail from the Americas, most of the sport’s history is preserved from a European perspective. Whether it’s club greatness or international competition, the Continent dominates the long-term view. A Miami Beach auction house, FUTBOLASTA Auctions, is seeking to change that and make available to fans important pieces of history related to the global game and its significance in North and South America.

Indoor Soccer Pro opens in Miami Gardens as South Florida’s largest futsal facility

Indoor Soccer Pro hosted its grand opening Sunday, as kids kicked around the courts and the Vice Mayor of Miami Gardens paid tribute to the new futsal venue.

Futsal, which is a soccer variant typically played as a five-a-side game on a smaller court, has tremendous popularity in South America. While it can be played on an outdoor court, its defining feature is that it can be moved indoors to a basketball-sized court. A rainy day like Sunday provided the perfect opportunity for Indoor Soccer Pro to shine.
