It was a game of firsts for The Miami FC 2, yet it seemed very similar at the same time. A new name. A new coach. Many new names.
Yet it was a number of familiar faces who led the way, as Miami FC 2 claimed its first victory, defeating Weston FC 5-0 to open the 2018 preseason at Bobcat Field at St. Thomas University.
In an apparent last-ditch effort to gain entry into the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, The Miami FC CEO Sean Flynn sent a letter to U.S. Soccer Federation president and fellow Miami resident Carlos Cordeiro.

Miami FC fans rejoice! The club is back! The Miami FC announced the creation of Miami FC 2 yesterday in a press release. The “2” team will play in the National Premier Soccer league for the 2018 season. Playing in the Sunshine Conference, the Miami FC NPSL squad will have to go up against local clubs Miami United, Storm F.C., Boca Raton F.C., and NASL foe Jacksonville Armada among others.

Paul Dalglish, the former manager of Austin Aztex of the Premier Development League and Ottawa Fury FC, has been named as the second manager of The Miami FC.
Writing this on the day of the NASL’s 2017 Soccer Bowl seems fitting. A day where any fan of The Miami FC would be much happier heading to the Riccardo Silva Stadium to see the culmination of an incredible season in the Soccer Bowl versus the Deltas.
But thanks to Gio Savarese’s stubborn Cosmos side our season has been over for seven days. A long week of thinking what might have been.
