Fado Irish Pub, a staple in downtown’s Brickell area and home to Miami Arsenal Supporters Club and American Outlaws supporters groups, closed permanently after Monday night’s last call.
“We had a great run in Brickell. To all of our wonderful staff, management and customers we had the pleasure of serving over the years, we say thank you,” the chain indicated in a statement on its Miami website.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we close our doors but it’s time to move. Thank you so much for your past patronage and your loyalty, we will see you down the road.”
A representative for the Atlanta-based chain stated that they do not intend to abandon the South Florida market and would like to find a new home in Miami-Dade County if possible.
Fado opened in Mary Brickell Village in 2010, serving as an anchor for the retail space. Its most notable soccer moment came in 2014, when a member of the Outlaws fell through a window after the United States equalized with Portugal in the World Cup. The bar recently hosted a Southern Legion MLS Cup watch party.
Reaction on social media was swift and sad, with many reflections on the importance of the bar.
Noooooo…. we will ALWAYS remember FADO MIAMI …

Sad – soccer fans all over south Florida will miss one of our favorite spots to watch matches. @MagicCitySoccer first reported this bad news. Fado’s is gone. pic.twitter.com/7YWsm5qR5b

Wow this really sucks. Gone and watched countless Premier League matches there. Hopefully a new spot fills the void but Fado mornings were a staple
