A player from a Miami-Dade County team made the the Premier Development League’s “50 Players to Watch” list of top prospects. Kevin Coiffic, a defender who plays for FC Miami City, was recognized by the league as one of the up-and-coming players it has to offer.
In late March, the joint bid from the Canadian Soccer Association, the Mexican Football Association and the United States Soccer Federation presented its “United” bid for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As was discussed then, Miami plays a prominent role. However, diving further into the proposal, you get a better idea about how the city may change for the World Cup.
Miami United FC found itself atop the Sunshine Conference table Sunday night, after handling visiting Naples United 3-0.
It was an unsurprising result, as Miami United had control of the match. Naples United is still searching for its first win against a team from Miami-Dade County.
It was an eventful week for Miami United FC. On Thursday, representatives from both the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County proclaimed April 27 as Miami United Day.
The team has been heavily focused on Miami-Dade County the last few weeks, after all, with the first two matches of the Magic City Clásico. Finally, on Sunday, the club will have the opportunity to look away from Dade and face some competition from outside the county. Naples United FC will be traveling across Alligator Alley and visiting Ted Hendricks Stadium.
Miami Country Day senior and girls’ soccer standout Danielle Geathers received a significant honor Wednesday, when she was named one of Foot Lockers’ Scholar Athletes.
The big story in Miami-Dade soccer was the action-packed conclusion of the Magic City Clásico, which ended in fireworks and a 1-1 draw. Drew and Matt break down the game, the schedule to come for both teams and take a look at the Fútbol Miami MLS situation. Join us, won’t you?

Former captain of The Miami FC, Michael Lahoud, confirmed on social media Thursday night that he would be signing to play with Fußball Club Cincinnati of the United Soccer League for the 2018 season. The news was first reported by Cincinnati Soccer Talk.
Michael Lahoud, the Sierra Leonean footballer who came to The Miami FC in May 2016 as a stabilizing force for a foundering side and became its captain, announced Tuesday night that he is leaving the club.
